Student Education
There are many routes to midwifery. In this model of care, midwives are apprentice or "on the job" trained.
Our students participate in an experiential education. They are involved in all aspects of care (with client permission) and are expected to take responsibility for their didactic education in one format or another. Apprentices learn from clients and preceptors alike. To be able to obtain this education, they must make themselves available for prenatal appointments, births, and postpartum visits. Student midwifery should be a truly immersive experience.
